These terms are in plain language because that is how the business runs. This page is a summary; the written proposal you receive for your journey is the operative document, and where the two differ, the proposal governs.
Who we are
Sacred Earth is a travel company in Kampala, Uganda. We design bespoke journeys through Uganda — currently four passages — and the one way to reach us is [email protected].
The written proposal is the contract
There is no package to buy off this page. Ask for a journey through plan your journey and a trip designer in Uganda replies with a written proposal within 24 hours. There is nothing to pay to ask.
Your proposal states, for your journey specifically:
- the itinerary, day by day;
- the price and the payment schedule;
- what your travel insurance must cover;
- the cancellation and refund schedule, itemised;
- the licensed operators, lodges and guides who will run it, by name.
Until you accept a proposal, nothing is owed and nothing is committed. Acceptance and payment run on the proposal and its invoice.
The checkout on this site
The checkout on this site is a demonstration. No payment is taken here. Real bookings run on a written proposal and an invoice.
Permits
Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, not by us, and they carry the authority’s own terms. Where a passage includes permits — The Hour includes both — your proposal says so and holds them under those terms.
Insurance
Travel insurance is required on every journey. Your proposal states what the policy must cover.
Who runs your journey
We arrange journeys with licensed operators and hosts, and the proposal names them. Lodges are chosen against the Held standard, described on stays.
Cancellation
The exact schedule for your journey is in your proposal. The principles — what is recoverable, what is not, and why — are on the cancellation page.
